Scarlett CH Rheingold Erda Scarlett Sonja and Roadie's CH Artisan Road Crew litter was born on 6/22/09. See the puppy page for more info about Roadie. We are pleased to welcome the 3 boys and 4 girls born to these beautiful dogs and our family! Scroll Down to the photo gallery and watch them grow!
6/22/09 The puppies started arriving at 8:30 with a bang. Mr Blue, brut that he is, plowed through and forged the way. After a rather harrowing day, including a prolonged labor and a trip to the vet, the last puppy, Miss Yellow arrived at 3:00. Weighing only 6 ounces, she had to be nursed by human parents, but Scarlett loves her. Thanks to the outstanding staff at Hickory vet for delivering the last three pups without a C Section!
6/23/09 Scarlett and the puppies settle in. She is a wonderful and attentive mother.
6/24/09 Thanks to the help of friends, Little yellow, Sonny Firefly, is still with us. The constant care and feeding couldn't be done without your help.
6/26/09 Sonny left us during the wee hours. She was peaceful and she was loved.
6/26/09 Scarlett and her Six are strong healthy and settling into their routine. The big trip for tails and dew claws happened this morning. Everyone did great!
6/29/09 Happy Birthday Puppies! The puppies are now one week old and everyone weighs over a pound. Mr. White tipped the scale at 23 ounces yesterday and is the biggest puppy right now. Everyone else has doubled their birth weight. 7/2/09 The puppies are ten days old and their eyes should open today. After festing on calves liver, chicken thighs, hamburgers, filet tips, fresh salmon, and fresh goat's milk, Scarlett has regained energy and looks great. The puppies are all gaining weight and thriving. Their ears have developed and dropped, and they now look like Vizsla pups instead of Spock!
7/5/09 The puppies are two weeks old today! Everyone has their eyes open and they are all trying to stand., and a few are able to stay up on all fours for a few moments. Everyone has cracked the two pound mark, and Blue holds today's record at 2.8 3/4 ounces!
7/10/09 The six pack are now 18 days old. Their unofficial names are: Junebug (red), Babe (pink), Rainbow Brite (rainbow), Ferdinand (white), Blake (blue), and Ozskar (green). They are standing and wobbling their way around the box. They are playing and mouthing each other a bit, and I've even heard some barking!
7/20/09 The pups are 4 weeks old today! The last week has been an exciting one, and they are growing up and changing rapidly. Their living space has grown and a play yard has been added to the whelping box, where they still go to sleep. Sleeping is still their favorite pasttime, but all the pups are running (and stumbling...), jumping, playing, chewing, and exploring the world around them. Scarlett helped them explore yesterday by opening the xpen and letting everyone out to check out the living room and dining room! Scarleet is still a doting Mommy, and she still wants the pups to nurse all the time, even though they have started eating solid food. See the slide show below for more week 4 photos.
The First Feeding on 7/18/09

Leave it to my high tech husband, Paul! He has found a way to monitor the pups external body temperature and the temperature in whelping box without disturbing the puppies by using a thermal imaging camera! Sorry to say that I have used all the available space on this page. Please visit the litter page for weeks 5 and on.
